Wrekin and Telford Liberal Democrats: Campaigning across the Wrekin and Telford Constituencies

Phil Davis ousted as Leader of Telford & Wrekin Council

12.00.00am GMT Fri 19th Nov 2004

At a meeting of Labour members of Telford & Wrekin Council on November 18, a vote of No Confidence in Council Leader Phil Davis was carried by 17 votes to 8. A new leader will now have to be elected. There had been growing concern about his leadership style over a number of issues, like the recent imposition of parking charges in Wellington and Newport, which have been vigorously opposed by the two Town Councils and local residents.
