LibDem Prospective Parliamentary Candidates for Shropshire12.00.00am GMT Mon 1st Nov 2004 A hustings meeting to select a new PPC for Shrewsbury & Atcham will take place on Saturday 6 November. The current MP, Paul Marsden, recently decided to stand down at the next general election. Only paid-up members can vote at the meeting, which starts at 10:00 in the Council Chamber at the Shire Hall, Shrewsbury, or apply for a postal vote. The four candidates are Richard Burt, Jeff Clarke, Heather Kidd and James Quinlan, who will each be invited to address the meeting, and answer any questions from members. (Jeff Clarke subsequently withdrew from the contest, as he had just been selected as a PPC in Cheshire) Following on from this event, The Wrekin & Telford party will be starting off the selection procedure for PPCs for Telford and The Wrekin. Applications will be invited through advertisements in Liberal Democrat News, and all members will be encouraged to take part in voting for the candidates of their choice. A selection committee has already been chosen to interview applicants and draw up a short list of candidates for approval, if that should be necessary, following the response to the advertisements.
