Future of the Newport Swimming Pool

At the Town Council meeting on 8 September, Cllr. Irene Evans said that on returning from holiday, she was dismayed to read in the press about a potential threat to the future of the swimming pool. It is the only facility in Newport that is open 7 days a week from 07.30 to 22.00 and is well-used by everyone, from toddlers to senior citizens. It was unanimously agreed that a letter be sent from the Town Council to Telford and Wrekin saying how much the facility is appreciated and asking for an assurance that it will remain open for many years to come. The Mayor, Sally Wiggin, has also written a letter in similar vein to the leader of Telford and Wrekin Council.
