Wrekin and Telford Liberal Democrats: Campaigning across the Wrekin and Telford Constituencies

Post Office "loses" LibDem election leaflets

8.04.29am BST (GMT +0100) Wed 9th Jun 2004

All the local Liberal Democrat election leaflets for Telford and The Wrekin were delivered to the Royal Mail distribution centre well before the election. By mistake, some were delivered outside the area, but a large quantity went missing, resulting in parts of the two constituencies receiving nothing.

The main problem seems to have been with the Wolverhampton sorting office, which, after frequent earlier complaints, promised on Tuesday 8 June that they would make a real effort to get leaflets delivered on Wednesday 9 June for the election on the 10 June, but still could not find the ones which had been delivered to them!.

Cllr David Murray said "The local post office in Albrighton had not received their allocation, but additional supplies were rushed over from Oswestry to make sure that everyone received their LibDem leaflets in time. It is far from satisfactory, and is not the first time that these problems have happened. It seems that the Post Office has not learned from previous mistakes!"

Meanwhile, copies of the Liberal Democrat newspaper, the Shropshire Post, have been delivered to houses in the village, so that people have some information about the Liberal Democrat campaign. Anyone who would like further information can make contact via the website, or by using our Freepost address in Telford.
